Five Practices for a better looking head

A bald head has presence. It is clean, direct, and unapologetically honest. But with no hair to shield it, everything shows.

Your head is the first thing people see. Make it count. These five practices form a routine that keeps it sharp.

1. Cleanse, Don’t Strip

No hair means no buffer. Oil, SPF, and grimy city air sit directly on the scalp. Left alone, it builds up fast.

Use a mild, pH-balanced cleanser. Avoid scrubs. Avoid anything that foams aggressively. That kind of lather usually signals harsh surfactant, which can strip the skin, trigger dryness, and throw off your scalp’s balance.

Choose a cleanser delivered through a foaming pump. It cleans gently and rinses without residue. Designed for exposed skin.

Wash at night. It resets the skin and prepares your scalp for a clean shave in the morning.

2. Take Sun Seriously

Your scalp is the first to meet the sun. And the first to show damage.

Apply a broad-spectrum SPF every morning. Use one made for both face and scalp. It should be:

- Lightweight

- Fragrance-free or close to it

- Matte in finish

- Free of white cast

If you are out all day, step up to SPF 50 or higher. For the beach or open water, use a physical zinc block. It is thick for a reason.

Wear a cap. It’s the ultimate shield against the sun.

3. Hydrate Without Shine

The goal is a balanced scalp. Never shiny or glossy.

Use a serum that absorbs quickly and leaves no residue. Look for:

- Niacinamide to balance oil and reduce redness

- Panthenol to calm the skin and support the barrier

- Glycerin to attract moisture and retain it

This is hydration that works. Not too shiny. Not too dry. Just balanced.

4. Shave Like You Mean It

If you shave, do it properly. Use a clean blade. Go with the grain. Rinse with cold water.

Follow with something that calms and supports recovery.

Look for:

- Allantoin to aid healing

- Aloe to cool

- Bisabolol to reduce irritation

- GHK-Cu peptides if you want the all-out option. They help repair microdamage and support firmer, healthier skin over time.

Keep the clippers clean. And check your sideburns. They should stop at the ear.

Double check for any spots you missed using a hand mirror.

5. Treat It Like Skin. Because It Is.

This is not what your hair left behind. It is part of your face. And it is always exposed.

Clean it. Hydrate it. Protect it.

Repeat.

Your head makes an impression before you speak. Make sure it says the right thing.
